Lap Pool & Swimming Area
Exercise physiologist Robert A. Robergs says swimming is a good fitness choice for just about everyone, especially those who have physical limitations or who find other forms of exercise painful. "It is a good, whole-body exercise that has low impact for people with arthritis, musculoskeletal, or weight limitations," says Robergs, director of the exercise physiology laboratories at The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
Water's buoyancy accommodates the unfit as well as the fit. Water cushions stiff joints or fragile bones that might be injured by the impact of land exercises. When immersed to the waist, your body bears just 50% of its weight; immersed to the chest, it's 25%-35%; and to the neck, 10%.
Aqua Zumba - Get Involved Today!
Perfect for those looking to make a splash by adding a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise to their fitness routine.
How It Works:
Aqua Zumba blends the Zumba philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn’t miss!
There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba® class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles.
Swimming Lessons - All Ages
Full Contact Fitness Aquatic Center is offering a package of five - 30 minute swimming lessons for $60. This is a great price! Please contact the gym for more details.
Structured classes are divided by age and skill level and taught by certified instructors who guide with praise and encouragement. Students will improve swimming skills, build confidence in the water and learn personal safety. Join in the fun and get involved! It is very important that everyone knows how to swim and have fun in the water. With so many water activities in the local area, this is vital!
Aquatics & Fitness
Want to lose weight without breaking a sweat? Hop in the pool! These fun water workouts burn mega calories and tones every trouble spot. Simply treading water vigorously can zap 11 calories a minute, same as a six-mile-per-hour run. "Plus, water's continuous resistance forces you to engage more muscle fibers through a larger range of motion," says Moe, so you'll firm from every angle.
